INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY (NEW!)

Workshop will be canceled or rescheduled if inclement weather (hurricanes, snow storm, tropical storm, black ice, flooding, etc.) is on the forecast. No one should take any unnecessary risks. SUPPLIES LIST

(Final supplies list will be sent when workshop gets closer. Kimberly is updating the list below)

Composition notebook, pencil/pens, sharpie

Masking tape

Color wheel, 10 step value scale

Water cup, spray bottle, paper towels

Paint shirt/apron

Gesso (optional)

Printed magazine or catalogue with uncoated pages

We will be doing exercises and note-taking in our notebook. This notebook is also a great place to complete the longer painting sessions – it’s been my experience that the less precious the materials, the more confident the student. If a student wishes another surface or a larger size, they are welcome to bring a pad of mixed media paper, bristol board or some other smooth surface.

Masterson Sta-Wet Palette System, the larger one with the Materson sponge insert and Masterson palette sheets

Professional grade heavy body acrylic paints I use Golden brand. Acrylics with extended drying time will not work for this particular class. Cadmium free substitutes are welcome.

Cobalt Blue
Prussian Blue
Cadmium Red Medium
Cadmium Red Dark
Cadmium Yellow Light
Cadmium Yellow Dark
Titanium While

The type of brush is key to getting a strong mark. I prefer Utrecht mangalon synthetics – they have a crisp edge and a bit of spring.

Brush sizes are not universal across all brands; the ones listed below are Utrecht sizes. The brushes I have listed here are roughly under 1”, 3/4”, 1/2” and 1/4” .

Provided brushes are synthetic with a crisp edge and in the above approximate widths, other brands will do.

Flat, size 18
Bright, sizes 16, 12 and 8
